Behaviour Change
Red Wolf, Blue Wolf
A reflective, debate based board game which creates space for adolsecent boys to talk about anger, violence and bullying.
Objective
The game is intended to be used in support groups and camps on power, masculinity and sexuality for adolescent boys from vulnerable communities to initiate discussion and aid reflection around subjects such as anger, violence, bullying, and so on. The game also aims to help them come up with alternate scenarios where they don't display above mentioned behaviours during conflict resolution.
My part
The project started as my graduation project in 2020, when I had spent 2 months immersing in the context, spending time with the children while they attended their support groups, went about their day in their bastis. As the pandemic struck i had to be content with building a concept which wasn't tried or tested. My main pitch to Thoughtshop was to use fictional narratives and metaphors in this particular game. When I went back to Kolkata to continue the work, I built upon the idea used a metaphor of red wolf and blue wolf to represent positive and negative power within us combined with a gameplay which relied upon scenario resolution and discussion.
